Basement Waterproofing & Leak Repairs

AWS Specialise in basement leaking repairs in Melbourne, Sydney & Perth

Basement leaks are one of the most disappointing issues for homeowners. They can potentially cause a great deal of damage to your foundations.

At AWS Services we utilise state-of-the-art waterproofing techniques and materials to prevent water from the leaking basement of your house or residential building. If it is a below ground basement, we will also apply more materials and tools, such as sealant and sump pumps.

Basement waterproofing is essential in Australia
  • Basement waterproofing is required by the Building Code of Australia (BCA)
  • Hydrostatic pressure which caused by excess moisture in the soil can force water to penetrate through cracks or imperfections. It is commonly seen after heavy rain in Australian coastal areas
  • Water penetration can result in serious structural damage and other moisture-related issues
Warning signs of a basement leaking

A small volume of water that slowly penetrates through a wall and floor of a basement is not very visible and can take years to be detected. AWS Services lists some significant warning signs that can help you find the invisible leaking at the early stage:

  • Slowly widening cracks on the concrete walls or floor
  • Bowing and buckling walls in your basement
  • Paint bubbling and peeling appear
  • Powdery residues on your basement walls
  • When mould is showing up on walls and ceilings
Common Causes of Leaking
  • Concrete is the most commonly used material for basements’ floor and wall. When excess water and air mix and are not removed properly, the concrete is more likely to crack and water will penetrate through the wall or floor
  • If gutters are not cleaned regularly and clog, rainwater will be absorbed by soil around the foundation and cause hydrostatic pressure
  • While tile drainage around a house is blocked, excess water will be absorbed by soil nearby and cause higher pressure on the basement’s walls and floor
  • When the ground around the basement contains too much water beyond the saturation point, it will increase pressure on the basement’s internal wall and floor dramatically and force water to penetrate
How AWS Services Repair & Waterproofing Leaking Basements

The processes start with diagnosing the water problem and to find the sources of seeping water. After that, we begin to clean and get rid of excess moisture from the basement walls and floor, seal cracks and apply waterproofing coatings. We will also add gutters and extend downspouts if it’s needed.
